If you’ve ever visited the vibrant surfing town of Jeffreys Bay, you’ve likely heard whispers of a local treasure: Infood. This iconic bakery, deli, and coffee roastery has become a destination for those seeking exceptional flavours, warm hospitality, and a commitment to sustainability. With roots dating back to 2006, Infood has grown from humble beginnings into a culinary haven that embodies the heart and soul of this coastal gem.
At its core, Infood is about more than just food and drink. It’s about passion, craftsmanship, and a sense of community. Founder Jayne Debra Davies set out to create a space where quality reigns supreme. From the artisan breads and melt-in-your-mouth croissants to the award-winning coffee roasted on-site, every detail reflects a dedication to excellence. Whether you’re enjoying a hearty breakfast on the wraparound porch or savouring a delicate pastry, the atmosphere at Infood feels like a warm embrace.
The journey of Infood Coffee Roastery began in 2012 as an offshoot of the deli, driven by the passion of then-barista Percy Chikwira. What started with a small 2kg roaster has grown into a thriving operation that now produces nearly 30 tons of coffee beans annually. Chikwira, who holds a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Coffee Excellence from Zurich University, describes coffee roasting as “part art, part science, with a lot of chemistry involved.” His blends, like the iconic Infood House Blend and The Bomb (inspired by the waves of Supertubes), are a testament to this philosophy.
Infood’s commitment to sustainability is woven into everything they do. From sourcing beans with sustainability certifications to growing their own herbs and flower garnishes, every step is thoughtfully considered. Even food waste finds purpose, feeding local farm animals and minimising environmental impact.
But what truly sets Infood apart is its people. Jayne Davies and her team infuse every dish, cup, and interaction with a genuine love for their craft. Their unwavering focus on quality, combined with a deep connection to the Jeffreys Bay community, has made Infood a beloved destination for locals and visitors alike.
Whether you’re indulging in a ploughman’s platter in the enchanted garden, sipping on a perfectly brewed espresso, or discovering the surprises hidden among the tropical banana trees, Infood promises an experience that lingers long after you’ve left.
For those who travel the backroads of South Africa, discovering its hidden gems, Infood is more than a stop—it’s a celebration of the Local Legends who make our small towns unforgettable. Don’t miss your chance to savour the magic of Infood on your next adventure.
